Detroit auto show

My son and I are going on the 14th. Does any one have any suggestions on pub like places to eat and hang out?

I would definitely suggest staying at a hotel outside of the city...my husband and I went up there for Autorama and I was terrified to even leave my car when we went inside.

Use the people mover and go to Detroit Beer Co. Restaraunt at 1529 Broadway. Good mix of sandwiches, pizza, etc. plus their own brewery.

If you park there, they will validate your parking ticket for free parking in their ramp. I usually do that. Do stay outside downtown, if you want to do anything else besides the show. There are OK hotels down town, but not much to do otherwise. Near the Detroit Brewing Co. mentioned above are the Atwater Block Brewery (good micro-brewer) and the Soup Kitchen (Cajun/Soul Food place that has some good live Blues). They all run shuttle buses to the show, and that's easy to do as well.

This will be my 20th show in a row, but I usually go with a group from work. Us engineering geeks like getting out of the office for this event.
