A local music guru is into Golden Earring and states they are the longest/oldest rock band with the original lineup. Something over thirty years. That is a long time to keep a marriage together
When I hear "Radar Love" I tend to change the station

There will always be artists we have never heard of. We can't know it all, can we

Oh, here are some pictures I took of Tommy Emmanuel, someone few people have heard of. I find him quite a wuderkind to use a pretentious German adjective

You know me, always gotta have the pictures.

Also, from twenty years back , a Michael Hedges photo I took.He is playing His Dyer Harp guitar. He inspired me to get a Harp guitar too, though I'm nowhere near his league

Just like our car mods, our musical needs vary.

How many people jumping in now own the new Slayer album or for that matter have ever even listened to Slayer?
Hey, I'll give 'em a listen, just suggest a place to start. I also sell used CDs and I rarely see slayer come in. That means folks who have them hang onto the discs. Deveoted fans are good. You are one of them and you are trying to spread the word.

I'll hijack yer through no more

Who cares about awards? Almost nobody I listen to have any musical awards other than gold and platinum albums. I don't listen to pop music and that's what matters in the music industry and who wins award. Commercial artists get awards and underground artists get devoted fans and actual recognition for their talent rather than how well they sell. Bands like Nsync, Michael Jackson, and Bitney Spears have tons of awards, does that make them good? I personally have never chose an artist to listen to based on how many awards they have won in a biased industry.

[QUOTE=captain howdy]Mind you Slayer has been making music for almost 30 years now. How many of those other artists have lasted that long? I'd say you have to be pretty damn talented to achieve that. As far as substance you have no idea! Don't let perceptions of a band you've never listened to blind you. They are very talented song writers with some very deep and powerful messages.
EXAMPLE OF THEIR DEEP AND POWERFUL LYRICS !

3. Necrophobic

[Lyrics & Music - Hanneman & King]

Strangulation, mutilation, cancer of the brain
Limb dissection, amputation, from a mind deranged

Asphyxiation, suffocation, gasping for air
Explain to me the feeling after sitting in the chair?

Ripping apart
Severing flesh
Gouging eyes
Tearing limb from limb

Experimentation, slow infection, internal decay
Execution, need transfusion, body rots away

Sliced incision, zero vision, loss of vital signs
Skin contortion, bone erosion, your life becomes your fine

Ripping apart
Severing flesh
Gouging eyes
Tearing limb from limb

WOW, I GET TINGLY ALL OVER READING GREAT STUFF LIKE THAT.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVENT LISTENED TO SLAYER JUST GO TO THEIR WEB SITE AND YOU WILL BE INSPIRED .........................TO PUKE !!

As much as I might dislike Slayer, CH has a right to beleave they are great.

They lyrics, well that is a really bad example of deep meaningful in my realm, but that doesn't mean they have to mean less to others. I'm not defending the lyrics, please understand that. Just that CH, and anyone else, has a right to love the music they choose.

I know I'd be embarrased if someone went through all of the songs of some of my past favorites and posted them. Some just make no sense at all.

Bad example. You chose one of their horror songs. I love horror films so I love that song. You should have chose a more meaningful song and just because you don't find it meaningful or don't understand the meaning or totally disagree with it doesn't make someones opinion wrong. If you decided to post a thread about some folk or religious band is the greatest thing in the world I'm not going to jump in and say folk or religious music sucks and they have no talent. I am open minded enough to embrace Slayers messages but I wouldn't expect the close minded, brain washed general public or hardcore religious to like or understand them. I'm not going to post lyrics to prove a point, nor will I because of the overly sensitive people they may offend. True fans of Slayer will know what I am talking about.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO GO TO THEIR WEB SITE AND PICK ANY SONG, IT DOESNT MATTER WHICH ONE ,AND CHECK OUT THE LYRICS
CAPTAIN, GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF A MORE MEANINGFUL SONG THAT THEY DO .

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS , I AM PURPOSELY TRYING TO GET PEOPLE RILED UP. ESPECIALLY OPINIONATED PEOPLE LIKE CAPTAIN., I FIND IT HUMOROUS , SORRY ! I AM VERY OPINIONATED ALSO ,I LIKE DISCUSSIONS (ARGUING) ABOUT CONTROVERSIAL MATTERS BUT THAT STILL DOESNT MEAN THAT THEIR MUSIC HAS ANY SOCIALLY REDEEMING QUALITY , BUT LIKE SOMEONE SAID EARLIER, TO EACH THEIR OWN !

BARRY MANILOW ROCKS: !!!!!!!!!!!

I am a hard core Bob Dylan fan , so I have put up withh abuse for years by people who hate his voice. He does have meaningful lyrics , though !

Cult off their new CD:

[Lyrics & Music: King]

Oppression is the holy law
In God I distrust
In time His monuments will fall
Like ashes to dust
Is war and greed the masters plan?
The bible's where it all began
Its propaganda sells despair
And spreads the virus everywhere

Religion is hate
Religion is fear
Religion is war
Religion is rape
Religion's obscure
Religion's a whore

The pestilence is Jesus Christ
There never was a sacrifice
No man upon the crucifix
Beware the cult of purity
Infectious imbecility
I've made my choice. Six six six

(Lead - Hanneman)

Corruption breeds the pedophile
Don't pray for the priest
Confession finds the lonely child
God preys on the weak
You think your soul can still be saved
I think you're ****ing miles away
Scream out loud here's where you begin
Forgive me father for I have sinned

Religion is hate
Religion is fear
Religion is war
Religion is rape
Religion's obscure
Religion's a whore

The target's ****ing Jesus Christ
I would've lead the sacrifice
And nailed him to the crucifix
Beware the cult of purity
Infectious imbecility
I've made my choice. Six six six

Jesus is pain
Jesus is gore
Jesus is the blood
That's spilled in war
He's everything
He's all things dead
He's pulling on the trigger
Pointed at your head

Through fear you're sold into the fraud
Revelation revolution
I see through your Christ Illusion

(Lead - King)

The war on terror just drags along
My war with God is growing strong
His propaganda sells despair
And spreads the violence everywhere

Religion is hate
Religion is fear
Religion is war
Religion is rape
Religion's obscure
Religion's a whore

There is no ****in' Jesus Christ
There never was a sacrifice
No man upon the crucifix
Beware the cult of purity
Infectious inbecility
I've made my choice. Six six six

(Lead - Hanneman)

If that ain't deep I don't know what is.
