The Digital TV Arrival
#22
I went through 3 or 4 set top HD antennas ($10-$30) and they all sucked on my 2nd floor apartment. I even used a splitter to combine two of them (which actually works a bit better!) Finally went and got this one from Radio Shack and it's awesome! It looks and is sized about like a small satellite dish and it's highly directional. (that website helps a lot to get a general direction of the signals)
I've got it mounted on my bedroom wall inside. It could easily go inside a closet or anywhere outside, obviously. Most of the signals come in at 28-30db where the little "HD" rabbit ear things never got more than 15-20db. (It's hard to get a consistent signal without loss below 15-18db)
