Do you smoke?

I smoked 2 packs a day for 20 years. Then quit cold turkey 1 1/2 years ago 5 days before I bought the HHR. I made myself a deal. I could spend $250 a month on a car or cigarettes, but not both. Haven't had a puff since and no regrets.
I went camping when I quit so I couldn't easily go to a store and buy some. If you can go 3 days without, that's all you need to get the nicotine out of your system. You've made it past the hard part. The habit part goes away, or rather you learn new habits, after about 2 weeks.

Both my wife and I used to smoke when we were young and stupid! We both quit when we were in our early 20's (about 25 years ago) before we had kids and never looked back.
Didn't need any patch or anthing like that, it was more about having someone to help do it with you that you really loved and cared for that made it easy. I have seen way to many friends or coworkers that have gotten cancer from smoking or chewing. It is so tragic for those who just feel they cannot quit...

I quit cold turkey after I got up to a pack a day. My mother was a chain smoke and when I visted her, she'd get me going. After she burnt a hole in the passenger seat of my car, no more smoking in my car. This had to have been 1985 or 86. I remember that cigaretts were $1.35/pack. Just think of the money I saved since then by not smoking.
My brother a 50+ year smoker quit late last year using Chantix.

I was born a Navy Brat, My dad was stationed in Bangor Wash during my sub teens. There was nothing to do on base and we were a long walk from anything fun - So we base kids as a group start experimenting with cigarettes and other stuff during Jr High in the early 70's. Kept that habit until 3 years ago when It felt like my heart was going 120 BPM and didn't slow down till later that night. That was when I quit cold turkey - no desire to smoke since then even when I'm around smokers

I've tried ALL (and I mean ALL) forms of tobacco products. Stopped cigarettes about 35 years ago.
Still smoke about ONE GOOD IMPORTED cigar a week....usually after Sunday dinner, with the "guys" in the back yard (add a touch of Blanton's to that at well).
