I haven't had a grit since Saturday and I only wore the patch for the first day. I still want one at times but I'm feeling ok.

To any smokers reading this: we all don't have to learn the hard way.
I will admit that I still get the urge, especially when imbibing...

Thanks Billy, but that's all ancient history. I wasn't looking for sympathy and normally don't bring this up because the subject of death tends to make most people uncomfortable. My point was to remind any smokers reading this thread that SMOKING INCREASES YOUR RISK OF GETTING CANCER - and I'm here to tell 'ya that it ain't a fun way to go.
Personally, I'm not afraid to die - it's the 'getting there' part that worries me.

For what it's worth I quit a 30 year/1-2 pack of unfiltered Camels a day habit cold turkey. If you're quitting and really want to test your will power, try carrying an opened pack around with you for a couple of weeks without lighting up. If you can resist (and you can) you've made it.

I use to smoke and Quit 1-1-2000 When I started smoking gas was very very cheap and a pack of smokes were 25 cents a pack when I went into the U.S. Navy back in 1971 and I noticed that a carton of smokes today cost over $50.00 bucks in some places.

On 9-11-2008 I was told I had Stage 4 Throat Cancer and I have gone through HELL 11 Surgery's with in the 1 st 9 weeks of having Cancer but I am much better today and I ask all of you who do smoke to please QUIT because I hate to see anyone have to go through what I just did. It's not worth it.

as of today all my Doctors say that I am a very LUCKY man because I am still here to talk about it and this I know. I thank every one on this site for helping me through the Illness call Throat Cancer. I know I needed every ones support and with all your prayers and cards that I received from the people on this site that I have never met has changed my life. So if you smoke now just try to Quit but then again the way gas prices were and are today If I was smoking today I wouldn't know what to do, Buy a pack of smokes and buy a gal of gas. I remember not too long ago gas was just under $5.00 a gal.

Just my

Your Z-Man

over $70/carton here in Taxachusetts
I get mine for $45 in NH

I've started hiking and mountain biking again to overcome a fatty liver so the smokes will be history here soon.

The wife quit 3 years ago so I've stuck to the no smoking in the house deal we made.
In the 3 years since she quit I figure I've stepped out for a smoke over 10,000 times.

10,000 times

Silly me
