From reading the article: All the torque comes on at 1700 rpms. ????
I know the 2.0 in the HHR "ain't got diddly" at that rpm.

The '08 LNF (automatic) torque peak is even lower...1650 rpm! Not much horsepower at the engine speed, though (looks like about 75hp).

Not sure on the sawps yet but GM has invested heavy in the new Eco so we should see many variations and applications coming.

GM has made it clear the engine has a lot of untapped power yet so with the way of the market to smaller more powerful turbo engine we should have some neat options.

I have read that our LNF motors were designed for over 500 streetable, dependable HP. When you take a look at all the LNF tech data it is an amazing little motor! GEN II can only be better...

BTW: My Eco 2.0 is the smoothest and most powerful 4 cyl motor I have ever driven, by far.

Bone Stock 130 HP per liter! If the Z06 Corvette had the same power per liter it would have 910 HP instead of 505...

GM has shown the old engine in 500 HP trim in several show cars and also Rhyes Millens Solstice drift car.

Do not expect this engine in that tune any time soon but we will see something over 300 HP soon. The V6 Turbo's are coming and will see over 400 HP in some tunes.

There will be a 3 cylinder version of the Eco in Turbo form too coming.

It's really only 259 hp in the new 2013 Malibu.
They made a mistake in that article.
If you read the GM release, it's only 259 hp.
They would never rate it at 269 hp in the Malibu.

It will probably also be rated at 259 hp in the 2013 Buick Verona too.

Way different totally new design.

Even the intake & exhaust manifold have switched sides.

Still what even changes we will not run out of parts in any near future for the present engines.

Also do not discount the engine will find its way into the Malibu. They are looking into a SS model and it will not be 220 HP.

This engine will also find it's way into the new Impala soon along with the V6.

Yes ??
That's what this thread is about, 259 hp in the 2013 Malibu ?
I'm sure an SS would be north of this 259 hp standard Malibu
