I can live with the modest tax increase for Universal Health Care. It's probably not nearly as much as I pay for my HMO.

FREE???

Now where did anyone get that idea??

If the gummint pays for it, now, really, who is paying for it?? Yep, us taxpayers!!

And when did the gummint ever do anything with fiscal efficiency??

Yep, healthcare today is expensive, but get a grip on economic reality, please!

I know a number of Doctors. Liability insurance is huge for them, due to way too many lawyers in our society. Tests are ordered in order to pay for the investment of super-expensive equipment. Hospitals (usually large for-profit corporations, making large profits) are not efficient as a business, thus costing us too much. Then, for some reason, anyone who completes medical school believes that they are due excessive compensation for their services, while underpaid staff does most of the work.

Dunno what the solution is, but letting the government take control is the absolute worst solution!!

Given that the government can't manage anything successfully, (FEMA, TSA, Passport Service, IRS Medicare, etc) why would anyone want them to manage our healthcare system? Count me out.

So some of you are just going to let greedy corporations to eventually suck you dry? We have a democracy, but are allowing the lobbyist to run the government. Just because something suck, doesn't mean it can't be better. We can make a difference if we all try together. You can't just sit on your ass and expect better things to happen.

I'm not saying Michael Moore is right or wrong, but he recognizes the concern for a better and cheaper health care system. Our government is not doing enough to reconcile our concerns so it is up to us to change that. At least read the proposed bill and do some research.

I believe that we should strive for the common good for our country and it's residence. A healthier nation is a stronger nation. Healthier people are more able people which in return provides a strong work force. Working people spend more money which in return stimulates the economy. I really believe that a universal health care system can do this. A universal health care system may create a larger market for the health care system which will create more employment opportunities. Besides, we need to help our each other, not just ourselves. We don't need to perpetuate the dog eat dog mentality. If we can pay less for health care that we do now without sacrificing the quality while benefiting the entire country, why not?

It's not just about health care. It's about the arwareness of what's going on with our country. Too many people are complaining, but not doing anything to resolve it.

Interesting position.....with "teaser" words/terms....."pay less", "sacrificing quality", "benefiting the entire country". Care to explain? I mean, geez, the Medicare program is going broke, is poorly run, and does not provide the care most applicant's want. A lot of doctors refuse new Medicare patients (can't refuse them legally) on the pretext their respective practices are full now. But, in some cases, it is due to Medicare payouts or refusal to pay for certain procedures....according to the AARP publications.

My position is not ABSOLUTELY against "universal" healthcare. I just want my politicians to state something I can believe and depend on. So far, NOBODY has developed anything I believe THIS COUNTRIES POPULATION, should rely on.
