Gas Prices?!?

The price of gas is lower today, when you factor in inflation, than it was in the '70's. When you consider the capital costs associated the procurement, shipping and delivery of gas, it is considerably greater than say, milk, bottled water or Starbucks coffee, but yet nobody rants about those. FWIW, I think it's a bargain to jump into my HHR, put on some tunes, turn on the creature comforts and drive 23-30 miles and only pay $2.08. Would you rather take the Greyhound? Didn't think so. I recently drove round trip Georgia to Minnesota and I spent less than $200.00 on gas. I'd have a hard time flying there for less, and even then I'd still have to rent a car when I got there. Now, if we were paying what they pay in Europe, then you'd have a legit complaint.

In the Florida panhandle, I've seen a range between $2.15 and $2.45. The prices vary sometimes by county and other times by distributor on the same street. Shell and BP tend to be the highest. On US Hwy 98 between Fort Walton and Pensacola, you can find stations with prices anywhere in this range. Gainesville always has the highest prices along I-75. However, they offered gas at $2.45 near the interstate and $2.28 in town.
Sorry, but we Floridians survive on the taxes all you tourist pay while visiting our state!
