Headlamp set is as plug an play as you can get with a custom setup. You only have to splice 3 wires per side. Low/Hi/Ground. The rest of the wiring is done. Red to lows, Yellow to highs and black to ground. Easy peasy! Everything powers up and brights work wonderfully! So whoever gets them will have no probs with anything. Removing the bumper to mount the headlight is a given and they are already pre-aimed. Time to remove/replace should only be a couple hours including removal of front bumper. Maybe less if you're talented!

So at the rate at which I typically accomplish jobs like this it should take me a whole weekend!

You sure you don't want to come up to Canada, install the lights for me and play in the snow a bit????

Gold lines Gen ones.. not sure.. they're a couple years old now so they're definately worn in but no probs... still bright yellow too! Shoot me a PM with an offer I guess. New they were $220 I think. Whatever the new Goldlines are. Bought them from SoCal Mike. Still have the original box. Only thing missing are the stickers!

Well at least you went German rather than Japanese. It sucks to see you go but I'm sure you'll have more fun with your new ride than you would keeping the HHR.

I looked into VWs a bit this year. I wanted a catalog to look at in my HHR while I ate lunch that I got through the drive through window at the fast food restaurant.

So at the VW store they gave me DVDs!

No more paper catalogs I guess. So I really needed to take my other car with the DVD player to the fast food restaurant with the drive through window. Who'duthunkit?

The DVDs remain unplayed at my home. No VW for us....yet......
Maybe a diesel in a couple of years. Need MPG since my wife drives a hundred miles a day to work.

VW got some bad rap from their 1.8t engines. Lots and lots of mechanical gremlins. Even the new 2.0t engines have their share of problems. Everything I've read about the 2.5 motor is fantabulous though. Gobs of torque and plenty of power. Smooth shifting 6spd auto. MPG on the 2.5 leaves a little to be desired but I'm willing to sacrifice the little MPG difference (avg of 28.2 combined for VW vs avg of 29-30 in the HHR for me). The diesels are reaching the 45-49 city and same numbers for highway mileage. Definately a gas saver as long as you don't mind the lack of power..

You had one of the better looking HHR's shame to see you sell it, but the V-Dubs are nice cars for sure. Good luck with the new ride.
