GM bail out

anyone else get a email from Gm begging you to sign your name for the bail out? all things must come to a end sooner or later, i tried to support Gm when i bought my HHR. i dont my tax money to support them anymore. i feel its a good time for them to rid themselves of whats destroying the big 3 and putting them under, aka UAW...unions are a joke now a days anyways, there is federal laws that protect workers rights now. free trade+ hard work= wealth...

No email from them and I don't want my tax dollars bailing out anyone but me!

Bankruptcy will only help make GM a stronger company in the long run. They sure won't do it sucking cash into the big black hole.

Yep people will be standing in line to buy cars from a company that has just filed bankruptcy!

I am suprised how many do not understand Bankruptcy is not the fix for it all. There is a devil to pay for it and it still may not save them.

But on the other hand if they take the goverment money they will have Political know noithing directing them as to what to do. You think they are a mess now just let some elected offical who can't check his own oil try to guide them.

It is time that people wake up. I hate unions but they did not do all of this themselves. GM even has said they have worked with the UAW to save over 500 million a year by cuts approved by the UAW.

There are a lot of things to fix and the UAW is only one part.

Commie. I hope and pray that someone near and dear to you loses everything they have worked for all their life due to people like you without the brains or understanding on just what is going on. GM helped build this great country and has NEVER asked for a handout before and are now stuck in the middle of a bunch of dumb REpulbicans who wanted less Government until no one was left in charge of the cookie jar and now we are in a huge mess. Instead you would rather buy from a foreign country that tried their darndest to bury our country. So now GM and the rest of the Big 3 are stuck in the middle of something they had no part of. They sell 11+ million vehicles a year more than anyone else so they can't be building cars people don't want.

Commie?!?! Um, it's been a while since I took an econ class, but I could swear capitalism involves the free market letting inefficient businesses fail... Otherwise those horse-drawn buggy manufacturers would have all gotten $25B loans every year and still be in business.

And yet somehow Honda and Toyota manage to build cars in North America using American labor, almost the same amount of NA parts, and are still TURNING A PROFIT. Don't you think a big part of their advantage might be that they don't pay triple the labor rate for their factory workers like the Big 3 do?

If Big 3 management is so stupid that they never bothered to ask themselves what would happen if fuel prices rose again, then they need to be sacked. It could appear that they basically gave up on compact cars because they couldn't compete while saddled with the excessive UAW labor rates.

So if the US auto industry really is critical to the US economy (which I think it is), then give them the loan to pull through *IF AND ONLY IF* they can substantially change what they are doing. That involves an executive management team that doesn't place their business in such a risky position that a single foreseeable market change will bankrupt them. But just paying them $25B of our tax dollars so they can continue paying triple labor rates to making more low-quality gas guzzlers doesn't make any sense to me.

LOL
i would say im far from a commie. belive me, no one close to me is in any union so keep praying to your "god". unions are socialist scum.. oh you really think the big 3 had nothing to do with THEIR own money trouble?? im not sure but maybe you are thinking about another big 3. lets see, some guy drops out in 6th grade and goes to work for UAW putting on lugs nuts, $40+ a hour sound fair to you?? i belive the big 3 have helped alot with this country but they didnt do it for free and out of the fairness of their hearts, they did it to make a big buck. so i say now its time for them to cut out some of their own crap,ie like UAW, and take care of them selves. if they want a loan im sure toyota could loan them some cash. im sick of it i dont want more of my hard earn cash going to some over paid lazy idiot...let them go bankrupt, they will come back stronger and hopfully they will rebuild in a right-to-work-state..oh for the comment about me buying a forgien car, i tried NOT to buy a forgien car but i cant help it now, its not my fault chevy sold me a mexcian car under an american name...

I got the email. You know they wouldn't have as big of a problem if the sorry ass UAW was out of the Picture. There half the reason there in this mess. Starting salary is $25hr..Going up to 35-40hr that is insane, not to mention 80% of there health care if covered and being laid off in UAW isn't really being laid off. You and me get laid off we go down to 60% of our Normal take home. They take home 80% of there Normal take home.

Union's are the biggest crock of crap now days. I will always remember what my Grandpa told me when i was younger, He was union for a time mind you. He told me once "Union's are the rise and will be the fall of America. Not i totally understand.

Here in lies the entire reason this country is in the shape it is in. Attitude! Blame everyone but yourself! Build a decent product at a decent price and you're not in this mess. Period!!
