I also just read an article in CTV (Canadian Television) news about the strike and it's affect on Canadian workers.

There are expectations that somewhere around 80,000 to 100,000 Canadian workers for GM and indepedent part suppliers could be unemployed within the next few days.

That really sucks big time for these people. They will not see any benefit from these strikes only losses.

No I'm an IUOE Operator. Local 150
and like I said before WE have a better contract than what the UAW guys are asking for.....

Oh NO YOU DON"T...not when it comes to paid holidays, vacation time and "down" time.

I also know, at least 2 locations in Michigan auto plants that pay more in the basic hourly wage.

But if that is what you are told by your union.....good for you.

My contract is pit and quarry, we dont work 40 hours, ever. Last week I worked 68. The heavy highway guys make 38 an hour and have the same bennies. But they work less throughout the year. Its to even up the end of year pay i guess. I work 10 minutes from home every day, their job moves all the time... take the good with the bad I guess.

For me it's 25 days vacation a year, paid time off for all statutory holidays (12 days), and paid sick days.
