I'm not talking movies when I talk about uncivil picket lines. I saw it up close and personal in the time I lived in Michigan.

One question regarding your statement on pay for the CEO's. But first, Most make far more than the 100 thousand dollar salaries that you indicated.....more like in the millions and up if you count stock options. But many companies tie the upper management salaries to performance, now. They still might make a million or so, but the 10's of millions are gone (at least in GM's case).

Now, my question.....you have any idea what the UAW or Teamster or AFL leadership makes??? How about ANY of the Powerful unions in this country??

And, I ALMOST hesitate to mention this...but I will, don't forget what is paid under the table to the union.
Actually I have an exact number on the salary of a Local 701 Mechanics union top agent. its in the bylaws that it HAS TO BE DISCLOSED to the membership. They make $80K a year. They work 14 hour days 6 days a week. They are on call 24/7 to resolve disputes that occur round the clock on the 450-700 members they service in their area. And as far as under the table... Dont even think they would do it. They were members before they were leadership. Makes being in that position more of an honor and a privilege. You guys need to do some homework and get more information before you make statements like this. Tell you what, If any of you need any information on unions PM me and I'll give you any and all information I can including sources from the Federal Gov. Local Unions, and I'll even copy my contract for ya.

MSHA Mining Safety and Health Admin. has been to the mine i work in 4 times this month already due to complaints about safety and health. In all cases the company was cited and fined BIG for all calls. The unions couldnt get the boss to fix the stuff so the guys who called MSHA were advised by the union to go with the last option.

Sorry about the soapbox but this is something I've been fighting against all my career. People dont understand how it works and why it works so they make assumptions. If I offended anyone I apologize, and hope you ask questions to get some good information.

GM as well as the rest of them are ripping Canadian car buyers off they are making a killing selling cars here and getting free health care. Here`s an example of prices off the U.S.and Canadian websites.

U.S. Price / Canadian Price

Corvette Coupe - 45,075 ----- 68,565
Z06 - 70,000 ----- 90,485

Avalanche LS - 33,360 ----- 38,985
LT - 40,795 ----- 54,060

HHR LS - 16,595 ----- 19,220
2LT - 19,395 ----- 24,070

Tahoe LS - 34,880 ----- 44,230
LTZ - 45,510 ----- 62,375

Express Van - 26,660 ----- 35,630

Impala LS - 21,940 ----- 25,230
SS - 28,920 ----- 35,560

Plus we pay 14% tax on top of that and pay $4.50 a gallon for gas.The Canadian dollar is worth $1.01 U.S. to boot They may be crying to the U.A.W. but they a not letting on what they do to the Canadian buyers. And the Impala is made here I paid $1,095.00 on my HHR for shipping it 10 miles from Detroit how much did you pay.

So, in the case of auto manufacturing plants, do they not even bother hiring scabs or what? They just totally shut down in the event of a strike?
