Got a new project

I found a killer deal for a '99 Eclipse that I just couldn't pass up. I needed something to daily while the wife's car is in the shop and she's got my HHR. Here's a pic of the new addition to the driveway. When her car gets outta the shop, I'm thinkin about turning this into a big project with some boost in the future

The rental gave me one of them when I had to go from Philly to NY. They gave me a discount for giving me a 2 door because I reserved a 4-door economy car (I didn't care; I was driving solo anyway).

Although the rental was an automatic, it was a surprisingly fun car to drive. Handled nice.

Good luck and many miles.

I am curious as a former Eclipse owner/Salesman. Is it the GS or GT. If it is the GSX, it is more than worth the updates. Please let me know.

If its a 4G64 engine and you need some help turbo charging it, hit me up, I've got some links to various sites for turbocharging the 4G64. I'm almost done with doing a 4G64 Turbo in my AWD 5 speed summit van.

4G63t is tons of fun

I had an awesome 300+ HP 90 Talon
12 Second 92 GSX
POC 93 GSX AT

OTOH - At the track I smeared 3rd gear in the 4G63t powered Eric Plebani built Mighty Max 4x4 featured in the first Mischief video.
Here's the segment from the Mischief video http://rapidshare.com/files/76886323...Truck.avi.html

Choose "Free User", wait the 50 seconds that tick off, choose download and enjoy the video.

Everything was custom, it cost too much for everything and it was a royal PITA so I traded it for a loss just to keep from lighting a rag in the filler tube.

It's a '99 RS 2.0L non-turbo. Not sure if its the 4G63 or not. Still kinda new to the whole mitsu thing

That's a 4g63 front wheel drive
If you really want to find out about them there's probably a Club DSM chapter in Texas somewhere - Google and ye shall find

I thought so. I just didn't want to assume (cause we all know what happens when you assume) The first car I ever did a motor-swap on was a '96 GST with the 4G63T

Well you don't have either 4G63 or 4G64, apparently you have a 420A motor. While that is some what bad news, you can turbo the 420A. Its not as strong a motor as the 4G motors, but I've seen it done before. I don't have no real links for turboing it though, but I'm sure you can google up some. Either way I think its still a nice project car.

The Eclipse was available in seven trim levels: Base[Only available in 1996.5 (mid-model year)], RS, GS, GS Spyder, GS-T, GS-T Spyder, and GSX.

Second generations (1995–99) cars:

* Eclipse: Base FWD model equipped with a 140 hp 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Chrysler 420A engine
* Eclipse RS: Equipment Upgraded FWD model equipped with a 140 hp 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Chrysler 420A engine
* Eclipse GS: Equipment upgraded FWD model equipped with a 140 hp (100 kW) 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Chrysler 420A engine
* Eclipse GS Spyder: Convertible FWD model equipped with a 141 hp (105 kW) 2.4L 16-valve SOHC Mitsubishi 4G64 engine
* Eclipse GS-T: Hardtop FWD model equipped with a 210 hp (160 kW) turbocharged 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Mitsubishi 4G63 engine
* Eclipse GS-T Spyder: Convertible FWD model equipped with a 210 hp (160 kW) turbocharged 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Mitsubishi 4G63 engine
* Eclipse GSX: AWD model equipped with a 210 hp (160 kW) turbocharged 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Mitsubishi 4G63 engine
