We have had this same problem several times. There are so many generic medications out there, the insurance company wants you to go through all of the cheapest ones first. If none of the cheaper meds work, they will then allow you to try the next one. Unfortunately, what they sometimes view as a cheaper version of the same med is something altogether different. I know it is nothing compared to your son's problem, but I was prescribed a new NON-HABIT-FORMING sleep med (rozerem). Anthem (Blue Cross)wanted me to try the less expensive, HABIT-FORMING meds first. I just decided to go without sleep!!!!
