help me with step-father
#23
We will include you father-in-law in our family daily prayers. May God choose to allow him to recover from this ordeal.
My father died a few years ago. When he was in the hospital (many times before he died), I found out that you have to be on top of things (like a "general contractor" would be). Don't assume everyone is doing the best possible job and that the best possible personnel are doing it. Twice I caught a mistake, one that could have been fatal. Talk to the doctors and find out if specialists are available in your area that could be brought in to consult. Sadly, sometimes decisions by doctors are "insurance company driven". Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Thank You VERY much
ThankYou!!!!Thanks to everyone who has included my step-dad in their thoughts, prayers, and any other ways that you can send him/us help. The nurses and doctors have been so nice and helpful to him and our family. He had nearly 14 liters of fluid drained by the dialysis machine in the last 24 hours. His breathing is becoming less labored and he seems to have turned the corner today. I will try and keep everyone posted as of his progress.
I believe that we all have an awsome energy inside of each of us, and every time we include someone in our thoughts, that we have the power to send them a little bit of that karma to help them along. Again thanks to everyone of you. I promise to repay everyone when I am called upon. Btw, While I was taking a break from the ICU last night, a noticed an older lady looking at my "Sally". I walked over to her and she was starting to cry. I asked her if I could help her, and she just said that her recently departed husband would have loved to see my beautiful car. After a little small talk, I asked her if I could help her back inside or to her car. She then let me know that she had car trouble and she was waiting for a guy to come and help her out from a truck stop that was a few miles down the road. She said that no one would help her and she hated to call an expensive repar guy, but she didn't know what to do. I checked her car out and it turns out that she had just left her lights on and she only needed a jump. I keep a jump box in "sally" and she was on her way in a couple of minutes. Before she left, she asked why I was at the hospital. I told her about my step-dad and she gave me a hug. She then proceeded to try and give me some $$ for the jump. I told her that was not necessary, aand that she already paid me with a hug. She said well, I will let him know tomorrow how well you turned out and how you helped me even though you did not know me.Turns out she is the lady who volunteers to help clean the rooms in the ICU. That lady made my day a whole lot better. And after reading all of the posts, My HHR family is surely an awesome group of people.

My father had a quadruple bypass in June, but came thru very well. However, labor day weekend his leg was swolen and red where they removed a vein for his bypass. Turns out it was infected and he currently has a staff germ and he has to take an IV drip antibiotic drip that takes 2 hours daily.
Anyway...I feel your pain, sorry to hear about your step-father....prayer said
