Living in staten Island is not cheap. An avg home on this island is between 300,000 to 350,000. We bought our home back in 1998 for 140,000 something. Now its worth 450,000. Talk about inflation.

yep I would love that house. Here in Northwest Indiana the average home goes for 140000-180000. Of course there are very upscale homes and very low cost homes in Gary, which is about 30 miles east of Chicago. But that is the average.

I live in SW Idaho we bought our 3 1/2 acre place for $168,000........
But they don't like ex-Califorians here....OH WELL
We also thought moving to asmall area, people would be real friendly!? NOT!!
Really surprised us alot, & not everyone knows we where from Cali,
that's their problem! But we still love this area. We could not afford to buy anything
in N Calif, Mendocino Cp., for what we got here.......
As far as HHR's here in this little area, there are 4 around here....I got the
first here!A Daytona Blue in July, only have 1200 miles on it, savoring my ownership
of this beautiful car!!!! So is there anyone else from Idaho on this site....would like to hook up some of you....My neighbor bought the Dark Grey one, she loved my HHr so much,so this summer we are putting our cars in the small Car Show they have every year....It will be fun.....
OK that's enough....LATER

I live in Monroe, Ga. a rural farming area about 35 miles east of Atlanta right before you get to Athens. Home of the Georgia Bulldogs. My home is right at 3000sq. ft. on an Acre of land and the Houses in my area for that size home is around $170,000 to $200,000. A home in Atlanta with that much space would sell for about $300,000 to $400,000.

Oh! That somewhat explains it. Do you have any idea what it takes to afford that kind of house. Not only that, but the up keep would be more than I make in a year.

That can be hard. And believe me, making that much in California doesnt do much. Average rent for an apartment in my area is $2600 a month!
