I hate Being Young
I'm sick of being Young and mainly BROKE. Weddings are the most overpriced one day event in the world! Yet if you say something your the A@#. House's are overpriced unless you want a POS that FHA will never approve aloan for, Unless you gor 40k chillen in the Bank! . Yet Renting is a huge waste of money.
Student Loan's are a bunch of B.S I can buy a house cheaper then pay for her schooling, that she doesn't even using cause there's no job's.
Is it that much to ask for 2-3 Bedroom 1-2 Bath and a 1-2 Garage in a house that doesn't need 20k put into in order for you to live in it. I hate Chicago.
Ever feel like Life Hate's You!

Yeah, about 30 years ago when I had no place to live and my only possession was a '67 Ford Bronco.
I now have kids, own cars, a house and some vaca property. No biggie in 30 years, but it is a testament to what hard work and perseverance can do for you.
Hang in there. If you want something bad enough, you'll get it. Things get better over time, not overnight.

If it is difficult to talk about finances and reality with your fiance, try a place like this where you can get some advice from a third party so it isn't so much like you are being the bad guy. http://www.mc708.org/Agencies/FundedAgenciesSearch.aspx (search finances and budgets)
Nothing wrong with renting for a while (most of us rented for years I would bet).
Better young with your employable years ahead of you than 65 and broke like a lot of unfortunate folks are these days. Hard luck in many cases, but no planning and foolish assumptions in many cases also.
You have the opportunity to plan sensibly, sounds like you know the problems with decisions you are about to make, now you need to bring your partner onboard. Best of luck.

i actually prefer renting :)... neighbors piss ya off.. move.... tired of the same house... move.... dont have to buy all the repairs to the house... call the land lord to fix it... its really mad expencive to own a house... not just in payments but maintenance expences... a roof costs 5-10K dollars to repair, gutters, drywall, carpet, water heater, appliances.. you name it... if it breaks you buy it again and again.. not to mention if the house has a basement and it starts leaking OH MAN theres 15-20K if they have to dig up and rebuild, not to mention now you have to pay property taxes
rent as long as you can, enjoy being young, and LIVE LIFE MAN!!!!! cause just like pink floyd said, 10 years have got behind you, and blam where'd it all go ~_~

What happened to your move to Boston? Got to tell you, the two areas you live in or are considering (Boston - Chicago) are a couple of the pricest markets in the US.
I live in an area where a nice house costs $40-50,000 and in twenty years you can have it paid off. Sure, we don't make as much, but I can tell you that you'll be further ahead and get stuck in traffic jambs less often.
I'm 58 years old and looking back, would't have changed much in my life. I drove through Sarasota Fla. couple of years ago where the starting price of a "house" was $299,000. If two kids were making $12 an hour, both working, how would they make that payment? Here, that $40,000 is a $400 a month payment plus taxes of maybe $125 a month. Easy life, (alright rotten Winter weather if you don't like snow), but you've got that already in Chicago and Boston.
And what I'm talking about can be had in many, many small towns in America, from New York, to Pennsylvania, to West Virginia to wherever.

Hey man im right there with you. Planning a wedding is kinda stressfull specially when you have to figure in the money part. I got lucky on that one she doesnt need all the fancy stuff just enough to make it nice. Things are seeming to get better after a rough patch here also so it come around for you to just give it time.
