I have a new "guest"

I was out with the old dog this morning and discovered that I have a new guest in my backyard,a Gopher Tortoise.Have not seen the old guy/gal yet but judging by the size of the burrow,I would guess that it is an old one about 9 or 10 inches long. They are concidered a "threatened species" and I will let it be.Hopefully soon I can get a shot of it out catching some rays.Anyhow, here is a link to some info on these creatures. http://www.gophertortoisecouncil.org/about.php

That's pretty cool.

We just have a grey squirrel in our backyard, the occasional skunk, the neighbours cat, and rabbits in the winter time

If I see Stubby riding this tortoise I need to seek professional help quick because it will be a flashback.

I had a female gopher turtle in my outside back yard (a separte yard from the Dogs yard) for over 2 years. Then poof she dug out to the Veterans Park behind my house. They can be very friendly. Enjoy your part of nature.

I hear the soup in prison ( which is where I think people who eat endangered animals go) is pretty tasty also, and you might even make a BIG new friend who wants to lay with you at night so you won't be lonely.

I know you were just jokking, so was I.

Hey Blues, Enjoy your time with your lil buddy and then you might want to call a rescue place to come get him, they may want him to help repopulate the lil guys. Besides he might thank you for the turtle action he will be getting there.
