Congratulations George , so will we still call you firemangeorge or fireman(retired)George?? but just not late for dinner!! seriously, we do thank you for your years of service to your community , happy that you are going to have a rest and catch up on those projects!!

Thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes and comments. It's nice to be recognized by my forum friends.
To answer a few of you:
Oldblue: I'm a certified Firefighter II, so I'll retain my status even though retired from being a paid professional. My EMT license is good for 2 more years and can be renewed again. I'll probably join my local volunteer fire department now.
Mike: Love the smiley.
badassbowtie: Hang in there. When your retirement time comes, you'll say
"Wow! Where did all those years go?"
LawDog88: Yes. Volunteer. Local volunteer fire departments can always use the help. It is a honor and priviledge to serve your community.
Snoppy: No. Part time will definitely be just that, part time.

Congrats Original Poster (George) ! Me im going on second year here, I was a govt fleet manager that started as automotive tech and worked up.
I left under almost identical circumstances.
