Ya think he's bein lobby by the incadescent bulb industry? What an idiot...sorry but I still think CFL's are a good idea. I use them every room of the house....Course maybe the mercury 's the reason for the 3rd eye growing out of my belly. Oh shoot my Wifi Connection is going down...better turn of f the CFL in my room
One of the reasons I remain a republican is to show people that not all republicans are idiots...sometime I think it's a losing cause with people like him in the house. But I remain ever hopeful

I replaced all my regular bulbs with CFL's about 4 years ago, working on a trial plan with a local power company. $200.00 electric bill savings the first year (I changed just after Christmas).
Frankly, I think the esteemed congressman is full of BS and is much to do about nothing. The EPA has safety precautions that are, in my opinion, unreasonable and unwarranted, on many items. Have you ever seen the MDS from the EPA on powdered soap? Stupid !!
It's kind of like buying a bag of Planters peanuts. It has a warning, "Warning, this product MAY contain peanuts, and is manufactured on equipment that also produces, soy, milk and PEANUT products". Well duh.
I also think, he was alotted time as a "fill-in". The chamber was essentially empty. So, it means nothing.
Oh, and I believe the newer "European" bulbs contain less no mercury.
