well we finally went and did it, we took Julius out for his first road trip. we live south of Houston and got a wild hair sunday evening and decided to head out for Lake Charles...well we left here about 445pm (yes pm) and drove the 3 hours or so out there (normal 2 and half but for some reaosn all the sunday drivers were out) went and played nickle and penny slots for a couple hours, and then we headed back. yea i know sound goofy to drive 6 hours round trip for 2 hours of nothing, but hell ya only live once, and the trip was really the fun part! anyways i figure we came out ahead, the casino didnt get all our money, we had fun, and julius did great cruising 80 all evening long without a hiccup... only problem i had was the ongoing mirror in my sigh line (very dangerous imho) and i found out there just isnt quite enough leg room for someone of my stature for long hauls, by the time we got home my knees were gone.

BTW another good outcome, i got my wife (Julius's REAL keeper ) to let me do our first mod other then floor mats and plate frames... so tomorrow its off to home depot for me! where a man can be a kid

AWESOME! I just got home a few hours ago from Maine...I just LOVE driving my HHR cross country, this is the second trip I have done to Maine & back from Illinois, and I averaged right at 29 miles per gallon for the entire trip, with a LOADED ride and all the hills in Upstate New York & Massachusetts. I saw MANY HHRs on my trip...I am wondering if any of them are members here?!?

I am just excited to hear someone loves road trippin' in their HHR as much as I do!

We all do! Actually, I'm itching for a long drive. I usually make at least 8 trips a year to get my son to college but this month I let him take the old minivan. So now I'm missing the fun of that 600 mile trip. When's the next Florida g2g?

well we havent been road trip people, with 2 boxers as spoiled as ours they have to go along if its more then a day trip...but as much fun as we had we might start doing day trips a little more... and who knows... if she lets me do mods after every road trip i might just start doing em every weekend

I've been kind of itchin' for a road trip myself in my HHR. But right now I am getting my 99 "gas guzzling" suburban ready for a camping trip right outside of Destin, Florida , But eventually I will get a trip out of her!

A day trip does sound nice though
