Labor Day THANKS to American Auto Workers

BIG THANKS to American auto workers on Labor Day. Whether your company took "bailout" money doesn't diminish the fact that you work hard to produce cars that don't just guzzle gas, don't come in last, are flat out fun to drive and DON'T come from over seas. All done through hard work and technology. I'm proud to say I've NEVER signed my name to the pink slip of a foreign car. Thanks for all you do!!!!!

I am surprised that there were not more responses to this post.

Most of us in our 50s and older are where we are because of the US
automobile industry. Even if you didn't work in the industry chances are you benefited by it.

Well I'll tell ya, I was tempted to respond or chime in with the fact this vehicle was assembled in Mexico and that kinda muddles any argument against buying foreign; but I didn't think it would be well received.

My HHR was built in Mexico, how about yours?

MFD BY GENERAL MOTORS DE MEXICO A.DE.R.C. C.V. 12/05 is on the top of the door label.

I fully support American workers anwhere in industry, but the sad fact is that by EPA definition, we're driving an import whenever we climb behind the wheel of our HHR's.

Depending on the model year, foreign parts content floated between 63% and 65%.

That being said, it doesn't matter where they were screwed together, just as long as you enjoy yours....that's enough to cancel out a VIN that starts with a 3.

Well damn. I forgot about the Mexican production and didn't check my sticker when I upgraded to the SS. Well, I'm driving a Mexican car. Oh well. Really is sad what this country has done to our ability to manufacture.
