Arrow LeMans after dark, just listen to the sounds

Back in 1986 I was fortunate enough to attend the 24 Hours of LeMans, it truly is a once in a lifetime thing, my favorite memory is sitting on the Ferris Wheel at 3am listening to the cars in the night. Thanks to the folks at Jalopnik, here's a taste of LeMans in the small hours before sunrise, just listen to that sound and try not to get goose bumps. Link follows.

I was just watching it on Speed thinking of doing exactly that. I'd love to go.

Thanks! Such a treat! When I was in college (the first time after high school) we had a record called "The Exciting Sounds of Grand Prix" and used to crank it up at night in the dorm. Incredible sounds of mid-'60's Grand Prix cars! Someone should make a CD of that old record!

Oh boy, haven't heard of that album in years, might still have a copy in the collection. I could always burn it onto a CD and drive my wife nuts.

If you get a clean copy on CD, you can send one to me as an off--site archival

This reminded me of the Shell commercial. Here it is. Depending on when you first became interested in cars, you will naturally find one of these to be your "mental image" of the TRUE SOUND! For me it is the late '60's - early '70's cars (although I was watching GP racing on Wide World of Sports from 1966 on):

That made the hair on my arms stand up, nothing like the sound of several well tuned performance machines going by at 185+. Going to Lemans would be one of those "Bucket list" things to do, but my bucket list is getting long and time is getting short.
I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to the Corvette Racing Team for winning their class at LeMans 24 and giving Chevrolet Corvette it's 1st win at Lemans 24.

Yes congrats to the Corvette team for a job well done!

And to the European racing journalists who pronounced the 'Vettes as "Rude, crude, loud, obscene, overly flashy, and typically American"....Bite me!
