My power company's meter reader is a retard

Opened my electric/gas bill today that came yesterday. They misread my gas meter again, by 100 cubic feet, same as last two times. So far they havve mis read my meter three times since July. Each time they've billed me for 100 cubic feet more gas than what the meter actually shows. Each time I've called customer service and they have re-billed. Each time I have demanded a re-read or a supervisor come out and look at it to show them it was misread, but all they do is re-bill with an estimate based off same month last year.

Well, this time I'm demanding a supervisor meet me at my house and look at my meter with me. It is stone cold obvious when you look at the meter that he misread the second dial (hundreds dial) yet again.

When Joe Homeowner can read the meter more accurately than the paid meter reader, something is wrong. FWIW they billed me for 2292 when the actual reading tonight is 2194.

Okay, I just had to vent. Thx for reading, if you did.

I've got a similar situation. My tennant runs a hot dog stand and the gas meters were literally 75 years old. Gave them permission to move to another area. When disconnecting, they somehow observed that the meter wasn't accurate. They had the B@11s to go back one year and try to "recaculate" a new amount. Sent her a bill for $502.

Told her not to pay and I would support her and in fact switch over to electric if necessary.

Same here! Thought the last bill was quite high said it was an actual read, so i paid the bill. well next bill came in and I had a huge credit enough for that bill and part of the next. This was at the end of winter so it seemed it was posible and didn't question .

Call them up and tell them you smell gas and think the meter is leaking. They'll come right out and replace it with one that has a remote reader. Shoot a bunch of propane around just before they get there.

When they send you an estimated bill, send them an estimated payment of less than half. Many power companies will let you read your own meter. They do this for folks that have pit bulls in their yard.

I did that (with electric)

When they send you an estimated bill, send them an estimated payment of less than half.
I had an old meter, and kept asking them to replace it with the new RFI ones. They kept saying they didn't have any. I knew it was a lie, because I was selling them to the utility co. After the second estimated bill in a row, I sent an estimated payment which prompted a nastigram. So, I took an aluminum baseball bat to the meter (always wear saftey glasses when doing utility work) and reported it as vandalism. New RFI meter and no more estimated bills and my bill went down a little over $20 a month.

Check this out....it's an article in the NY Times dated November 6, 1878. They were suspicious of the gas meter then! This easily could have been written yesterday. How funny!
