Way Too Many Commercials
Well folks...here's a breakdown from a site called CawsnJaws.
You can read even more detail and race fan comments HERE.
According to my calculations fellow HHR owners...that's 30% of the race being commercials.

Chase Standings After California
SceneDaily.com has a new graphic on their home page that will show the chase standings from now until the end of the year. I snagged the graphic and uploaded it to photobucket. I will try and remember to post this each week for those who are interested.

This is my "guess" on why things are happening the way they are....
Martin and Yates were in talks a while back. Nothing happened.
Robby Gordon was supposed to buy half of Yates last weekend. Yates backed out at the last minute.
Roush and Ford both offered Martin $8 million to race next year. He declined.
Roush and Yates already have an alliance to build motors for Ford.
A few weeks ago, Roush tried helping Yates with his teams. Sadler actually ran a Roush chassis under the 38.
Now here's where I'm going with this. Roush and Martin have a long term relationship. Ford and Martin have a long term relationship. I believe it is next year that the 4 team max per owner rule goes into play, and it "might" go to 3 team max the following year.
Martin owns the 17 team of Kenseth.
If the number of teams in the cup series per owner is restricted to 3, then Martin buys Yates and merges with Roush (which they already do sort of work together), hmmmmmm....... 2 owners,
Roush
6 (Martin)
16 (Biffle)
17 (Kenseth)
26 (McMurray)
99 (Edwards)
Yates
38 (Currently Gilliland)
88 (Dale Jarrett, going to Waltrip, to be Martin next year)
The #6 might be going away, bring the 17 over to Yates (will be "Martin" once he buys it), then that's 3 teams per owner using the same resources. hmmmmmm.?.?.?
Make sense to anyone else????

Actually it does make sense. No hurry though since it will only apply to those big teams when a driver's contract runs out. I wasn't trying to say it wasn't true just that I had searched all over the NASCAR.com site and couldn't find anything about it. Under the new rules they may have to be completely separate teams though although they can work together like Roush and Yates have been. They don't call this the silly season for nothing...lol

Thanks John...I'm disappointed that he didn't make it either...but someone is always going to be odd man out...and the whole weekend has been a bust, starting with his crash during practice.
I'm not big on Jeff Gordon either, but he did what he had to in the races leading up to the chase and that saved his butt tonight.
Glad to see Dale Jr.'s brakes held out until the end. Sure was rooting for him not to have any problems and take him out of the hunt for the 2nd year in a row.
Congratulations to the guys who made the chase...let the fun begin.
