I personally like it. It would be a great grocery getter or drive to the coffee shop kinda car. That article even said something about it coming in all wheel drive. That would be awesome for wintery or rainy conditions.
I'd get one if it was available.
From what I've been reading this sort of market is going to heat up in the US. This article alluded to some of the competition but I've also heard that BMW might bring over the 1 series, MB might bring the A series, Smart is already here. It's good to see that GM might be ahead of some of the other domestic makers

That article makes mention of South Korea. What's the difference if it comes from South Korea, China, India, Mexico or the US?
If it's a quality concern I think that vehicles made over there will have the same sort of quality control as GM vehicles made elsewhere (which isn't always that high of a standard)
If it a job loss concern within America, all I can say is that it's begun already and not likely to stop. Many of the GM cars and trucks are made at plants in Mexico. Many parts made for vehicles are made all over the world.

Fuel costs in Canada are currently high...almost $4/ gal. The HHR's, Cobalts and G5's are selling well, but probably not after 2010 when they'll be replaced with something like the Trax from Daewoo.
Until then, I'll keep plugging away here in Windsor to help keep our First Time Quality at 98.7%. That means 987 transmissions per thousand don't need any type or repair or re-work at all. After they all come off the Test Line, they're buttoned-up, filled and shipped. (We even ship 2 models of 4T/45E to China for a Buick Sail)
On the positive side, the 4T45/E has a BAS version (Battery, Alternator & Starter) This is a mild Hybrid capable of boosting mpg by about 5 or 6% and not as expensive as the Prius, Civic or other gas/electrics. It will be available on the Aura, new Malibu and Saturn Vue.
We have the technology... let's use our manufacturing ability, too.
