New Look for My Silver Dawn

Well so far, the family votes have all been against touching it. Plus my nephew said the low profile tires / wide wheels and lowered version looks "pimpy" which I think is bad. It may not have cost me all that much, but there aren't very many around, so guess I'll leave it alone for now. BTW it does have a GM designed 4 speed auto (first auto trans for RR) so I haven't completely broken brand loyalty.

The lowered one with the big wheels is WAY more ugly than those Chevys with the 30 inch wheels all jacked up (and that was my standard of ugly before). No offense, but butchering a classic car to me is a crime. Please leave yours stock.
How does it drive? I used to drive a '52 Bentley for a company car occasionally (usually to pick up clients at the airport for the owner) and it was a hoot. 4 on the tree, as I recall, and smooth as butter. What surprises most Americans is how narrow these beasts are - roads in Britain are NARROW!

Interesting, the feedback I have received from friends as well as on this board is quite varied with some absolutely loving the idea of a restorod and others being totally horrified.
Age doesn't seem to matter either. Kind of reminds me of the reaction I got when I bought an HHR. A few liked it, but most didn't get it at all (could picture me buying a Z06 or an M3, but an HHR????)
Thanks for the feedback, I was looking for opinions and all are good ones.
Semi-related note: Boy did the "Bloomington" folks get upset when a local acquaintance did this to a completely original '54 Corvette, as did the original owner that sold it to him. Personally I love it and the original drove like an old truck.

Original is a ton better in my opinion. All that 'modernizing' stuff just cheapens a classic. I had an Austin Princess limo last year that was very similar in appearance to your car. When I bought it, it was a basket case. In that case, I don't see anything wrong with modernizing. But it would have still looked mostly original. Modernizing would have been in drivetrain and creature comforts. Someone had already installed a Ford 351C in it prior to me buying it.
My thought on the Vette is that he could have bought a fiberglass body for that ride. It looks great but why kill an original car when there is another option to get the same thing? Either way it is fiberglass. The new ones have to be better quality than a 50 year old one. I have seen some of the 50s Vette and T-Bird kits and they are near perfect.
