I don't know about a 1996 but I got a 1992 Sedan Deville for my daughter and it only has 71000 miles on the clock. Runs like a champ. The only glaring thing wrong with it is that the compressor is out. Since we've had the heatwave in Dallas Fort Worth Texas (that might as well be all of Texas) I've been driving her car during the day while she drives my HHR (yeah I know...I get Blue Lighting one day a week until winter) to work and college. The LAC drives like a dream. I plan on changing out the muffler because it still has the original muffler on it and it's holding steady but barely. I'm thinking of doing a dual exhaust setup using something like a Camero exhaust since it seems to have the same sideways principle. I'd like to get a more updated radio or head unit because although the stereo and speakers are original and work very well, it's a cassette unit and even thought I got my daughter an adapter to hook up the CD Player and MP3 player, it stiil doesn't sound great because of the connection. The last thing I'll do is get it repainted in the same light blue color to freshen it up some!

Other than those things, I'm pretty happy with it.

Blue

That '92 has a 4.9 PFI, great engine, 200 h.p. good torque and will run forever, wife had one. It ain't a hot rod like the NorthStar but it's plenty good.

I know a couple people that have high mileage cars with the northstar... and both of them use some oil. It's not excessive though. Just keep an eye on it.
