This has been a law in Michigan for almost 10 years now.

Been a state law here in TN for quite some time. For the most part, people obey it and are pretty considerate about it.

Here in New York if I saw an emergency vehicle coming from behind or stopped on the side of the road I always moved over-but then again people would move with me because I was in my 1985 Olds 88 350 Battle Tank. Now in my plastic HHR people get mad at me and think I'm drunk or sleeping at the wheel because all they do now is honk their horns at me.

Ahhhhhhhh-to have real steel again. Maybe my dream of mounting flip up machine guns from the front fenders of my HHR will be my next mod...

Absolutely true about most people not knowing how to move over for emergency vehicles. This is something that many of us have been doing for years. But I still see idiots on the interstate, even when both lanes open, fail to move to the other lane to provide an emergency vehicle on the side of the road an added margin of safety.

If any car is on the shoulder of the road you should move over a little anyway incase a person or animal come around the front of the car into your lane or if someone not looking opens the door. The further over you are the better chance of avoiding an accident you are. Thats just good driving.
