Our Home Made Potato Gun VIDEO

Mr B and company used to do similar but with soda cans filled with sand/dirt, gunpowder as a propellant, metal tube and a cannon fuse for ignition.
This was done out at a canyon property gathering used for camping and motorcycling. It was private property located near Rosamond California (near Willow Springs).
I remember going there and watching these nut jobs blow the can up and over the canyon hills. Ah, the good old days!

if ya want some real distance use starter fluid or I tried acetylene and propane they worked well also I smashed the hell out of a Metal Garbage can with the one we made. Watch out though here in CA its considered making a fire arm but there still lots of fun
Definitely try starter fluid spray it in the chamber close it up then load the spud and push it down the barrel this forces air in to the Starter fluid filled chamber: air and fuel = big bang also try putting a cap from a spray can on the muzzle its really loud if it fits tight and no heavy spud to do damage

back in high school a friend of mine made one out of metal piping, and made a sealed end on the back, with a schrader valve (think air valve on tires), connected a propane bottle to it to fill the chamber, and hit the ignitor...talk about sending a potato to it's iminent demise hahaha

Looks like something I'd try. In high school we had Polish cannons that launched tennis balls. (across the field and into the visitor grandstand)
One tip, just because your NLE has 999 nausiating transitions, doesn't mean you have to use them. Use cross-fad and cuts almost exclusively. Just like Hollywood does.
