back in 1980, my Father worked for Chevron/Standard Oil...we got a transfer to Rothesay, NB, just NE of St. John.
He worked for Irving Oil for 3 years...
I was young at the time(11 yrs old) but seem to recall some of the "adult conversations" from company that my Dad had over at times referring to the Irving family as a "powerful and influential family who have powers of persuation over politicians, and leaders of several industries to help their oil and gasoline sales remain prominent"
translation to a 11 year old sounded more like "they're rich, and control alot of the market due to their money"
anyway...I am not surprised to see the Irving name listed in that article, although they pleaded not guilty.

"Ultramar, one of the largest marketers and refiners of petroleum products in the country, was among the companies that pleaded guilty and was fined $1.85 million. One of its regional sales representatives, Jacques Ouellet, was fined $50,000 by the Competition Bureau and fired by Ultramar."
This is a joke! They need to be fined X10. This is only the tip of the iceburg; dig a little deeper and see what is found...

They make billions a year that $1.85 million fine is like us having to pay a $2 fine. What a joke.
