"The vehicle is designed to achieve 40 plus mpg under normal driving conditions and current standards"

I expected mpg to be higher. My wife's '05 Beetle TDI averages 42 around town and close to 50 on the highway.

That fuel mileage number seems low. The Canadian Smart cars are rated at 4.2L/100km or 56mpg.

These cars are pretty funny-looking... Like the result of being stuck between two semis if they collided head-on.

Cool smart car test drive at Chicago SummerFest

We were at the Chicago Summerfest today in Lincoln Park in Chicago, and it was presented by 'Smart'...They had 5 or 6 models in various colors there that you could test drive around the block, but the line was too long so I didn't participate. They are pretty sweet looking little cars in person, there is just something about them that is hard to resist.

And check out the tail lights...looks like a familiar design!!!

You do realize these are custom panels?

The Smart car body panels more or less can snap on and off making it easy to change color or in this case style...does not look like a Mustang to me though.

Yes I know it is custom. There is nothing wrong with the car itself. I was just making light of how stupid those particular mods look, Of course it is all subjective.

I drove one a year ago and let you know guys this car is horrible
it runs very rough( 3 cyl Diesel) it's very noisy inside
no power at all
no cargo room except for 3 plastic Wal-mart bags
but handling is ok

I recently saw one in Lexington KY. Only had cell phone to take pic. At 5'8" and 260 lbs, I don't think my arse would fit into one. I sure wouldn't want my kids or grandkids driving one. They just don't look safe at any speed. Ralph Nader would love that.
