stuff happens

Haven't been here much lately, busy at work, and since my wife totaled her Durango she's been driving the panel...... about a month ago someone slid into her on an icy street...

Good news, it got all fixed up, and the bodyshop even fixed my horrible paint repair on the passenger side where it got dinged by a flying gazebo.... sorry, no after pics, cars all salty....

But for the last couple years, in the few days I am not on the road for work, I've been fixing up my first ride...

turning it into this:

I've owned this van since 1979....

I also picked up this:

and plan to put it into this:

just because I can.

I have visions of Ted Bundy helping to load a mattress.

There is shag carpet and a bean bag in the back, right?

Wife's fine. 5mph hit. Very icy road and a blind corner.

I'm just glad she didn't try to force the door open.

I just ordered a grille for the HHR, getting this one

Good to hear, tin can be replaced etc..

That grille looks good, you will have to supply the mounting studs & nuts tho..& the plastic is kinda fragile, but nothing some JB Weld couldn't repair If needed.

I was thinking the first scene of one of the Bundy movies, maybe I'm getting mixed up was that one of the Silence of the Lambs where he offers to help load a mattress into a ChevyVan, and then.......

Man, I haven't seen one of those OHC Pontiac sixes in eons, really neat idea to use it.

Glad to hear that your wife wasn't hurt, and that your HHR is back on the road.

I know a van was used in the movie 'the stepfather',,,,

Don't worry, I've heard all the Scooby/A-team/rapist/free candy/molester van lines over the years, the funny part is when the person saying them thinks they are being original.

My standard comback to molester van comments is 'If that's what vans make you think of, that says more about you than me'.

One of the deciding factors in buying the HHR panel was that I could take it to the Van Nationals, panels are allowed, window versions are not.

My wife has the car right now until I can get her another, I will be seeing her tonight and maybe I can get the HHR washed and post a few pics. It's got some different wheels now and after the bodyshop got done it looks like new again!

Needs a wash, but no more dull paint on passenger side rear quarter!
