Test drove new Camaro SS today

Had the chance to test drive a 2012 Camaro SS today, with the V-8/ auto, but it was a convertable..

Would love to have the SS bucket seats for my Panel.. Those were Schweet !!!

Was really not impressed with ALL the plastic door panels, etc. besides the seats, interior seemed almost on par with the hhr.. I expected more for the price tag.

Punched the gas & it stumbled hard, & then picked up, & really had some GUSTO then..

Shift into "M" & then workin' the paddle shifters was cool...

Handling was awesome on the 20's...

All in all it was ok... It's not for me, but beating on this one today was interesting..

I have had a chance to drive one as well. The seats are awesome. It was like a perfect fit. As you said the interior is nothing great. But I did love the way it drove and I love how you sit in the car. Plenty of power.

I test drove a 1ss and 2ss. both were coupes. They feel so claustrophobic to me with gunslit windows and I wasn't impressed with the power of either, given their output. I was in my 06 c6 auto with z51 and a few boltons. So I had back to back comparisons. I think the biggest issue is weight and outward visibility for me. They feel heavy, and they are. I did like the seats and steering wheel, but not a fan of the gauges. I also drove an auto 5.0 mustang and a boss 302. They both felt lighter and revved easier than the Camaro. I'm intrigued by the new 1le Camaro though for the price it sounds great, but it still doesn't fix that squashed feeling when inside.

IDK if this was a 1SS or 2SS, didn't even know they had different versions. Badging & headrests said SS....

Actually I like the gunslit windows, but felt like my lil HHR had more side to side & legroom in the front..

That camaro did have a heavy feel.. When hitting the gas & it stumbled, I was really surprised how bad that was.. salesman said it needed more warm up time, & let me know that until it was in my name to take it easier..

Yea right..

More people might want it in their name if he didn't have to make excuses for it. That seems kinda lame. When I test drove my HHR SS I have now, the dealer encouraged me to get my foot all up in the go switch.

I have to agree. That was lame. & no way that V-8 shoulda stumbled.. my lil 2.4 doesn't do that..

Even tho I wasn't seriously looking, just trying to have some free fun..

If they'll let you back on the lot, let us know how bad the ZL1 stumbles. You know, the one that should say SS.

Will do, there was a 2013 there that was really wicked looking. But no test drives were permitted in that one.

Actually I got a flyer in the mail, stating to come out & test a New Chevy out..

That was all the encouragement I needed..

It shouldn't have stumbled at all. My first drive in one was in February a couple years ago here in MI. No stumbling there. Lots of wheelspin on cold summer tires , but no stumbling...

I liked the SS Convertible best. Having the top down and hearing that motor perform is just about unbeatable.
