Today's Air Force; Go Girls...
MY heart jumped for joy when I read this story!!!!
THESE AIR FORCE MEMBERS DID WHAT THEIR
GRANDMOTHERS COULDN'T DO!
The 376th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, flew an
ALL FEMALE KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling mission over
Afghanistan on Jan. 31. Early on Jan. 31, a KC-135
Stratotanker took off from Ganci Air Base, Kyrgyzstan,
carrying more than 180,000 pounds of fuel and an all-female
crew-both pilots, a navigator and a boom operator.
The event marked the first all-female crew to fly an air
refueling mission into Afghanistan from Ganci. Capt. Heather,
and the boom operator, Senior Airman Lyndi, are all assigned
to the 99th Air Refueling Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
They have been deployed here since Dec. 9.

Hey my great grandmother was a WAC, she not only was a nurse, but also ferried fighters to their duty stations...in WWII while her son served in the Pacific theatre...her husband, My great grandfather, served in the 4th Infantry in france in WWI. My family has had nearly continuous service and has served in every major conflict since the Revolutionary War...Thank God for the military and thank you to all soldiers, male and female, Active Duty Reserve and National Guard, who be their service and sacrifice make this world a far better place and make our freedoms possible.
Tomorrow is Flag Day remember those past and present who have given their lives, their service their loyalty to that grand flag. May my children and grandchildren understand the pride the day that flag is finally draped over my coffin. Happy Birthday United States Army!!!

Whoa! HOLD ON, no offense intended!
I was merely showing my pride of the fact that all female crew
actually flew a mission into a combat zone.
I too served in the army after being drafted, and I too want my family
to understand the reason why we stand for the anthem, and why flags
are on that box that grandpa is in.
AGAIN, I menat no offense to anyone, just showing my pride. Sorry.

Sorry! Maybe I'm the one that was confused.
I am so proud to be an American, and my emotions really peaked
this morning when I read this story.
It still makes me a little misty eyed just knowing these gals and
guys are over there "doing it" for us. SERIOUSLY!
BTW, I worked on KC-135's while I was at Boeing in Wichita on
the re-engine program there. We hung the "Really Big Fans' on them.
YOU GO GIRLS!!!!

CJ,
I also got my ticket in '77. But it is only a SEL. I once got a chance to fly a CESSNA 441 turbo prop, but only for a few minutes...
Sometime, remind me and I will tell you about the test pilot lettting me go fishing with it!
WOW, was that ever a rush!!!!

cj, you were a crop duster...way cool !!! a couple of years ago I spent probably 15 minutes watching a pilot fly crops, I was amazed that the guy could fly so close to the ground with so much control and at the end of each pass he had to contend with power lines...wow !!! I always wanted to be a pilot, especially being in the Infantry...and was always the first to volunteer for helicopter missions...My niece was a tech on the AWAC and my youngest son had signed up with the Air force to be a "Boomer" until they cancelled his slot...
