Toyota suspends u.s. Sales of eight models

Just got it off the news...Toyota is taking the unprecedented move of suspending sales of the vehicles associated with sticky gas pedals until a complete solution is implemented.

HUGE.

Four people died in a 2008 Toyota Avalon here in DFW, when the vehicle went into a pond for unknown reasons the day after Christmas. This was on a dry road. Toyota should be held accountable for their original denial of this defect, starting over a year ago.

Something similar happened in CA as well (San Diego I think) -- the sad/terrifying part of that was that the driver was talking to 911 at the time and was saying they couldn't stop (so there is a recording of it) -- family crashed into a truck or something and all died.

Toyota has known this issue for a while now. Yet as of yesterday, they were still selling the effected cars to unknowing buyers.

I did not see anything about the Pontiac Vibe which is basically a Matrix. I guess nobody cares about the poor Vibe. Toyota does not care because it is Pontiac's/GM's responsibility and Pontiac/GM does not care as it is a brand/car that is going away and Toyota is responsible for engineering.

Perhaps it was not affected by this particular run of parts. Not all Toyota-built cars are included in this action.

Good. For ONCE the press can go after Toyota for recalls. I'm sick of always hearing about the US having issues, now it's Japan's turn!!

Toyota was legally required to stop selling these vehicles, but did not...

Now Toyota admits they don't know what the problem is:
