Toyota Takes #2 in U.S. Sales

Makes me wonder if GM with all its different brands will be able to hold them off for much longer. Does GM need to cut brands and concentrate its efforts?

See story here: Toyota overtakes Ford as US 2nd Biggest

I doubt anyone at the top at GM cares at this point. They're just trying to return to some kind of profitability, regardless of hemorrhaging jobs and losing a little market share. I think the only brand in danger at this point is Hummer, just because the environs have trashed its image. Pontiac should get some good resuscitation with G8 this spring and Buick will be getting more all-new designs from the GM-Shanghai design studio over the next few years. GM is putting Pontiac against Nissan/Mazda and Buick against Lexus with the new designs coming out. No other company can directly compete against as many other companies at the same time like GM can.

One interesting bit of info that I didn't realize about Chrysler in the late '90s, just before the DCX merger, is that they were the most profitable car company in the US before the merger. Sure, they were number 3 in the US for sales, but they actually made more profit per vehicle than any other manufacturer at the time.

I don't know about that.......I see a lot of H2s in my area. I see everyone driving them too. From blinged out ones rolling on 22"-26"s to bone stock ones being driven by soccer moms and everything in between.

Thanks for the ammo
Nice to see Chevy still on top :)

Maybe not for long but we beat Ford.

Raised in a Chevy house but keeping an eye on imports

First car was 76 Monte Carlo 90% frame up resto. Would post pics but haven't found a proper thread to show her off.

The only Chevy commercials I see are for the new Malibu. I have only seen a couple of commercials for the HHR since their introduction in '06.

GM seems to have lots of Cadillac ads.
