At the twilight's last reaming???
OK this might get some folks riled up, and I'm sorry about that. I missed the beginning of the Super Bowl last night, and I'm glad I did, because my blood pressure has been rising ever since.
At what point does the national anthem become a gimmick to increase your record sales or practice your "artistic range"? Christina Aguilera's warbling, moaning, pseudo funky, and royally screwed up rendition last night made my skin crawl. What happened to having a band play the nation anthem while the spectators render the appropriate honors, do we "have" to be entertained? And its not just at the Super Bowl, its at every major sporting event, the next opportunity to mangle the song comes in just 13 days at the Daytona 500.
Could we show some respect to the national anthem and maybe lose the showboating. There I've said my piece, take it for what you will.

Yeah, it's sad the "traditional" method is gone. But that's life and nothing you can do about it. Think of Roseanne at the World Series......or MANY Years AGO......Robert Goulet, who had to hum the verse, because he forgot the words.
By the way, I thought Ray Charles version (which would be considered soulful) of the National Anthem was the best....from my recollection.
Oh, and from many posts on the web.......half time was an absolute failure.
