Sleepytime music last night
Elton John ~ Tumbleweed Connection (1970)
Went and picked up a selection of miscellaneous mint condition records for cheap today
Eric Weissberg ~ Dueling Banjos (1973)
Curtis Mayfield ~ There's No Place Like America Today (1975)
Fantasia (1961 Disney 3LP w/ booklet)
All that rockin classical gave me an idea: a Beethoven's 3rd Symphony shootout!
Furtwangler (1951/51 recording)
Toscanini (1949 recording)
Szell (1970 box)
Böhm (1972 box)
Karajan (1961/62 recording)
The headcutting was fierce and the streets ran red but I liked the Karajan best of these.
It also makes a rockin soundtrack to X-Games: The Movie.
Especially jumping the Great Wall Of China on a skateboard using the Mega Ramp.
I **** you not. Best extreme sports soundtrack there is.
Better than any Warren Miller ski movies with hard rock or mountain bike movies with grunge.
YMMV
Tomorrow I'm going to play the Christopher Hogwood/AoAM CD in my car to see how Mr. Beethoven meant Eroica to sound.
.

The Hogwood/AAM CD set is the best I've heard.
Some people complain that parts of it are much faster than what they're used to but that's how Ludwig wrote it.
I have to agree with Mr. Beethoven and say it's perfect the way he wrote it and Hogwood/AAM plays it
I scored about 1000 records yesterday for $100.
He wanted $250 but we hit it off and he just wanted them gone.
I let him know that I only had a Benjamin to spend and they would all fit in my car so...
I expected sorting to last a week but once I got started it was like X-Mas morning to a junkie in a pharmacy.
I was done in 8 hours.
I made a pile of about 100 that's NFG to anyone.
I made 2 boxes of the best stuff and that's what I'll use to upgrade etc for myself.
I made 3 boxes of stuff I figured my used record buyer/seller might like.
The rest I crated and set aside.
She only wanted $45 worth but that was only 40 records.
I'll put these 800 (from fair to NM, mostly just good to very good) on craigslist for $250 for a quick sale.
Someone'll make a killing at a flea market.
Here's what I'm keeping:
That version of the Flamingos album on the sofa sofa lists for $500 in Goldmine pricing guide.
I won't get anywhere near that but it's NM vinyl and VG+ cover should pay back my Benjamin by itself.
That Wild Angels album is Jap and also in excellent condition. I'm keeping that.
There's a VG or so Bill Haley "Chicks" that's worth a few bucks and a "Blind Pig" bootleg with mint vinyl but a barely acceptable cover.
There's also about 5 cover upgrades, ~a dozen additions I've wanted and countless hours of checking out cool looking stuff.
I'd say it was $$ well spent

I've been playing my new acquisitions...
There were 2 copies of BadCo ~ Run With The Pack (1976)
The original is scratchy so I'm keeping the reissue.
Allmusic gave it 2 stars wtf? a few of my favorite BadCo songs are on it (Simple Man, Run With The Pack, Fade Away)
John Mayall ~ The Turning Point (1969) - much better than my old copy
Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band ~ Stranger in Town (1978) - minty fresh
The Wild Angels Original Soundtrack (1966) - from the Roger Corman movie
It's a Taiwanese knock-off so it's going in an LP frame on the wall
That movie was a hoot! (3 years before Easy Rider)
Quote from Wikipedia: Film critic Leonard Maltin called The Wild Angels "OK after about 24 beers."
Here's the movie link at wikipedia - The Wild Angels

A guy advertised these 3 IM for $60 on CL every 2 days since late August.
He said they're like new, I offered him $30, he said OK and they are like new so here they are.
Iron Maiden (1980)
The Number of the Beast (1982)
Piece of Mind (1983)
I stopped at Newbury Comix to check their LP selection and lo & behold...
Black Sabbath ~ Vol 4 (1972 180 gram Rhino reissue)
