We lost our oldest girl
We lost our oldest female Golden Retriever to cancer three weeks ago. I can finally write about it. She had an unknown tumor on her spleen. One minute she was fine the next she couldnt stand. We rushed her to the vet only to find a garpefruit size tumor on the xray. She was hemorging internally through this tumor and had lost 1/2 her blood volume. Sadley we had no choice but to put her down.
We sat on the floor with her and talked to her while we brushed her. She has always liked that. The vet came in and gave her the injection and that was that. No struggle she just closed her eyes and went to sleep.
Oh damn she is sooooo missed. She was our American/Canadian Champion. She also had her canine good citizen award and she did therapy work.
She had two litters first one was five pups the second was nine pups. We have her one of her daughters from the first litter. I am really going to miss her come xmas morning as me and her always shared a cup of coffee before opening gifts.

Coty and I send our deepest condolences:
IF IT SHOULD BE
If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.
Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Maximo, Paquita, Xochitl & Malinche send purrs and licks to you in this time of pain. What you did showed how much you loved your family member.
Know you will see her again one day...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks folks! She crossed the bridge and is with her mother, Peanut.
Her daughter, Summer is really missing her. Lilly, Summer, and Sara all slept in crates right next to each other. Lilly was next to Summer. Summer next too her mom. Summer has been sleeping with or next to her mom since the minute she was born. I know its tough on her as she has never been without her mommy next to her.
Lilly and Summer now sleep with us. Thank god for king size beds. Sam our male has always slept on the floor next to our bed unless we have guests staying over then he sleeps in the hallway where he can keep an eye on both bedrooms. Sam is very protective of us and any guests that are in the house at night.
We always thought is was going to be Sam to go first as he is 12. Sara just had a physical and had just turned 11

I'm very sorry for your lose. she was beautiful, what a face.
I dread the day we lose our yellow lab , Popcorn is 7 y.o. she sleeps in our bed (under the covers), gets the last bite of everything i eat, and is certainly a big part of our family. I can only imagine the pain your feeling, but you'll get threw it.
Happy holidays

My heart goes out to you. While we know we've done the right thing, our heart breaks nonetheless. I had to put my eldest down 2 weeks ago. Holli Jane was 14+ years old. It wasn't sudden, I knew it was coming, but it was difficult anyway.
We, the guardians of these beautiful beasts, get the best part of the deal: unconditional love.
I'll give an extra hug to my four girls tonight in honor of your girl.
