And they also say people are living longer.
I went to a waterslide park with my kids this summer, and I was astonished to see the number of overweight < 10 year old kids. It was a real eye opener for me. My kids, who are 100% healthy btw, looked skinny in comparison.
That convinced me to keep the kids on a healthy diet and to keep them moving (exercising), as well as to finally seriously attempt to loose the extra 25 pounds that I've been carrying myself.

Based on these calculations, the researchers estimated that life expectancy at birth would be higher by 0.33 to 0.93 year for white men, 0.30 to 0.81 year for white women, 0.30 to 1.08 year for black men, and 0.21 to 0.73 year for black women if obesity did not exist.

I thought Massachusetts would be higher. We seem to have lots of young girls who are cute and overweight........"pretty fat". At work I also see more hispanic folks coming in who eat nothing but starches and fried foods.
