What was your first car

1949 Nash, payed $25 for it in 1956 when I was 14. Had it one week and sold it for junk, got $10 for it and saved my money for 6 months to buy a 1948 Chevy coupe for another $25. It had no brakes and had to drive it home using the hand brake. Boy was that a hairy ride trying to use the hand brake and shift at the same time. If I still had all the vehicles I've bought in my life I could start a large used car lot....it would be better to say salvage yard.

My first car was a 1974 Chevy Vega, it was safety orange, and rust. It cost 900 bucks to put a 50 dollar car through state inspection most of the money was for body filler and gaskets. it used oil like the BP oil spill. it was a real monster to keep running or get started, everything from the seat belts and the gear shift had to be in the perfect place.
My first real car was 1966 Plymouth Valiant. got it four months after the Vega, which died by tossing its four cylinder engine through the hood in a spectacular display of power never seen before from the car. would never go back.

Dad built me a 76 Vega. Light blue. Didn't have a radio or AC. Friends called it the Vega 747 because it was loud. Crazy fun to drive but the 10 mpg led to buying a Saturn. Dad still has the Vega. I'd love to get it up and going again...just needs a gas tank.
