I also felt appearance was a key factor in my decision. However, Gas mileage and functionality are awfully close behind my decision as well. But like others said, all the above are surely very close to each other.

Tough call between Appearance & Gas mileage... I went with Gas Mileage.

I love the look/style of the HHR but with soaring gas prices, I had to think of my wallet.

(ahh... the $$$ I will save w/HHR vs the horrible gas mpg I got w/PT Cruiser...er Loser)

Since I work in Jersey and Reg Gas starts at $2.17 while premuim gas is $2.37 I love saving money on gas. That was an extra bonus becasue I bought my hhr for looks.

Well I bought mine because I wanted something that could carry all the baton stuff me & my daughter tote with us, gas, and the "funky" or retro look it had. And it was PURPLE, lol! Then came price with all the options, then came the test drive, after there was no way I was walking away without it!

Hey SIHHR, are you running premium gas in your HHR?

I've read the other "posts" about what octane to use (supposed to use)... just curious, cause I'm still running Reg unleaded. No problems so far.

I used Regular for 95% of the times that I bought gas for the first 7000 miles that I did. Now I only use premium. I noticed a bit pick up and it seems to last a bit longer. Still kinda hard to really say. But the car runs good.

I decided on the HHR mostly because I just like the way it looks. I've always been a Chevy guy but kept my distance for the last several years since they haven't had anything attractive, economical, and fun to drive for a long time. I am really glad they decided to get back in the game. So with that I guess you could say "Appearance" would be my primary reason.

It doesn't hurt that the 2.4 is quite a nice little powerplant, at 170+ HP and VVT it's actually quite powerful for a small vehicle. I'm sure before too long there will be ton's of power adders on the market.
