County Employee, mostly computer support with the occasional project in research and development of new "toys". Sure it's computer equipment but Fry's electronics is my Toys 'r' us

Lost my job of 16 years with the University of CA in Sept, 2009. Got a job Feb 2010 at a private university that wasn't really the best fit, but it gave me health insurance and was in my field (higher education). Thankfully they laid me off at the end of October.

About a week before I got laid off, I got a text from a girlfriend who is in my doctoral program about a Counseling position at her community college--basically my old UC job.

Well, got called for an interview last month, got to meet the President this morning and got the call this afternoon and offered the position!

As of the new year, I will be a Counselor again at a college! I am SO EXCITED to be doing what I love, just at a community college this time.

So for now -- plugging forward in December with my dissertation and it is awesome knowing I have a great job to start in a few weeks!

Patience paid off ...

After 22 years working as a Field Claims Analyst (nit picker...) for a major auto insurance company in Southern California, I was laid off. We (family and me) relocated to Springfield, Oregon where I opened my own auto damage appraisal business - Oregon Vehicle Resources. I also do auto purchase consulting.
