Worst week ever!

Headed out to Carlisle PA on Wednesday evening. Had a sub at Country Fair at around 6 pm and drove for about an hour an a half. Suddenly that terrible intestinal feeling hit me. I exited and hit just about every gas station for 150 miles. In the end (luckly after dark) I was on the side of the road - pride no longer an issue many times.

Got to Carlisle around 11:30 and it just got worse and worse. At 2:30 in the am I had this horribly intense chest pressure and worried I was having a heart attack. Searched for the hospital and couldn't find one. I got behind a security guard in a police car from the local university and ran the red light, he pulls me over and told him what was happening. He escorts me to the ER and finally I began to sell buicks, (always wanted to use that one) which was a big help. :)

Spent 3 hours in ER and they proclaimed severe food poisoning. I left for home continuing to stop at every gas station on Interstate 76. Ended up sleeping in my car on the side of the road for about 6 hours.
Got home late Thursday night and slept it off all day on Friday. Even now, I'm not right.

Waited all year for Spring Carlisle - so close.... Gonna raise some hell with Country Fair on Monday. Previous time I was there the guy was sneezing all over everything and I walked out. I should have known better this time - stupid. There won't be a next time.

Why can't restaurant owners require sick people to stay home? Or - in this case, why can't they train them to keep the food cool and safe for the public?

Andy, sorry to hear about your dilema.
I always worry about food poising when I travel.
I would definately raise hell with Country Fair.
I wonder if others got sick that day?
Glad your OK....

I avoid uncooked food, especially subs, because you can have problems with lettuce, tomatoes or uncooked meats.

I vowed that morning to never eat again! :) You're right, the potential is really there to get very ill. What I can never understand is if this happens in what should be a well-run establishment, what must it be like at these chicken barbacues, poorly managed low-budget establishments, etc.

I do not have these problems, I am genetically superior. The only requirement I have for food is that it be thoroughly dead.
