2 Weeks on Mobil 1 oil

It had been almost two weeks since I made the jump to the Mobil 1 in the 2011 LT and I have to say I am pleased. The HHR runs a bit smoother and seems to be a little more refined in throttle responce. Fuel mileage is the same as before 30-31 HWY. It was a bad week to test the mileage due to it has hit the 90's here so the drive home requires the A/C. Overall for the 20 extra bucks I think the Mobil 1 is worth it.

Thumbs up

I've been using Mobile 1 in my cars and motorcycles for years,, Never notice a increase in MPG but , seemed to run a tad smoother, after the second oil change I saw a big difference in the color of the old oil. It was cleaner , because synthetic has less carbon build up. I agree I think it is worth the extra few $$,. I feel better :) .. I added Mobil1 to my 6HP 1 speed lawn mower a few years back and was able to cut more lawn on the same amount of gas, But the speed was constant unlike a car ..

Big diff inside as well.. I had to replace an oil pan gasket on my S-10 that was on M-1 since I bought it, & inside was clean as new assembly...
No sludge in the pan either..

PS: The auto parts stores have "Oil Change Specials" this month at Adv Auto is 5qts of M-1 & an M-1 oil filter for $32.

That's less that @ Wally world.

Good to know. I bought some M1 on sale a month ago and will be making the switch in the next couple of weeks!

I've been using M1 since my first oil change. I did see that can go a long way between oil changes. My DIC says 49% and I have ~8000 miles since the oil change. The oil is still clear and full on the dip stick. 116,000 miles on the car.

Have run every car I have owned on Mobil 1, since it came out in 1979. Have never had a lubrication related engine problem on any car since.

Only minor issue I ever saw was on my Motorcycle, AT long highway speeds (75/80) I would use alittle oil. not burnt just passed on through. never a issue with my cars, Ive been using Mobile 1 since 1990. I did notice my
F150 started WAY better in 0 and below then with dino based oil :),It doesn't thicken up like dino based oil..

While I only use Mobil 1 and recommend it I do warn of the placebo effect.

I hear all sorts of people with claims of faster throttle and smoother running but that really is not what happens. It is kind of like how a clean car runs better.

Most of the benefits are in the engine and how clean it keeps it. Also the cold start it flows better to prevent wear in cold temps. Also heat break down is less.

Marketing people like to make claims that may have a glimmer of truth to them but do not expect to feel whole sale changes in feel with the oil.

If you plan to use it and you do your own changes go to Walmart as they normally have it cheap at $24.95 for a 6QT jug.

You mean my HHr doesn't run faster after I wash it? :) I agree I never noticed any mpg increase, On my Honda with a wet clutch I t did help alittle with the shifting,a tad smoother but not much, no MPG increase,, I use it for all the reasons mentioned. Changing a dino run car and switching to Mobile 1 you slowly see the color change in the oil at change time..
