I think I found a source to some confusion. The group 47/H5 is the same size as group 90/T5, but is not an AGM spec. You would need to say "group 47 AGM" when ordering.

I may have misread the post.

Just took my battery out, need to get it tested. The group 90 battery is 9.5" long, and the Group 48 is just over 12" long. In order for that to fit, you would have to lose the hold down clamp on the end, and the battery would high center on a hump between the now abandoned clamping area and the vent tube. You would still have the hold down on the front side. I would be concerned about the point load on the bottom of the battery that hump would cause. I guess you could hammer that hump down, it doesn't seem to serve a purpose, other than backing for the clamping block. But yeah, looks like a group 47 is a direct bolt in, using both hold downs.

So the AGM needs the vent tube, or not?

Sears AGM - looks like 700 CCA for group 48 and 600 CCA for group 47.

The group 47(H5) agm battery is not available at Sams here in Louisiana but I can drive over the Gulfport, Mississippi the Sams there has it for the $134.00 quoted. However since it is 280 miles round trip I would be just as well off to buy a more expensive battery here in town(Baton Rouge) ie. DieHard Advanced Gold AGM Battery-Group Size 47, $172.00. Not to mention what 4-5 hours drive time is worth. Since I am in need of a new battery or very soon will be I hope no one minds me using all this good info.

I'm not positive, but I think AGM batteries can be shipped.

I inquired at Sams if they would do a 'store transfer' and they said, "No". I did not check any other places with regards to shipping but I will check it out. I do some business with the Interstate Battery people here locally so I will check with them tomorrow and see if they have one.

Found one of the Duracell AGM 47 (H5) at the local Batteries Plus. Had to order it in. Warranty supposedly is 48 mo.
