Black HHR SS Wax or no wax tips

New to the forum Just bought a 2008 HHR SS yesterday. Terribly excited, dealers delivering hopefully tomorrow. Anyway, I'm kind of lost on this whole "black car" polish/wax/sealer/protector/wash (and the list goes on and on) business. I've googled it, I've looked in BMW forums, 300C forums etc and nobody seems to have a clear cut answer or even choice. Some people love Zaino, some people say he's a con artist. I never heard of him until 10 minutes ago so I offer no opinion. Some sites are saying the worst thing you can do to a black car is wax it and they are promoting some sort of acrylic spray on product. I'm just looking for the best products to clean, wax and shine my black HHR SS...that's it. So does anyone have suggestions that work. I'm a Mother's guy but I've never owned a black car before. Anyway...thanks a bunch.

IMHO, just stick with good quality wax, Zaino, Mothers, Meguiars, they are all good. When I had a black Suburban I used Meguiars High Tech Yellow. Its was fantastic on black. But no matter what you use, with black you'll wax a little more often because it shows every little mark. I used to "refresh" the side panels on the 'Burb once a month to keep it looking its best.

Welcome from Sunny SoCal, the the HHR familia and for having a black HHR!

I SWEAR by Meguair's
(see pix here of my baby: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/featured-hhr-submissions-43/august-2009-featured-hhr-afs9-24392/)
I claybar, wax, etc...recently started using something called RejeX (http://www.rejex.com/) that someone suggested on here--it totally makes the black pop out and it is safe for my pinstripes (hand-painted).

We like Pix!

Welcome to the our hangout!

Since I'm the family vehicle caretaker, I use Maguiars on my wife's black Monte Carlo. I strip and double coat twice a year. Once a month, I do the hood, roof, trunk and nose for love bug and sun protection and spray detailer after every wash in between. Still looks awesome after 5 years.

Wash your car down with dishwashing soap and then use a sealant and then a coat of wax. I love Poorboy's products and the Natty's blue looks great on Black vehicles.

Here is a friends truck I polished and waxed with poorboy's.
