Wheel bearings
Today, I had the right front wheel bearing replaced at 78K under the power train warranty. It was fixed because of noise for the last couple of months. The brake shimmy I had for the 1 1/2 years I owned the HHR suddenly vanished. In other words, I lived with that shimmy for more than a year because I thought I had warped rotors and was waiting for the brake pads to wear out before I replaced pads and rotors.
Be aware, hub bearings are covered under the power train warranty from 2007 (when the 100K warranty was first offered) through 2009 only. GM deleted them from the covered parts list from 2010 onward. I have saved more than $600 by having two hub bearings replaced under warranty. I would want to get a 2008 or 2009 if I were looking to buy now, to get the best combination of price and warranty.
