The original filter is a carbon imprgnated one. I've replaced mine twice in the 5 1/2 years of HHR ownership and picked up one at Auto Zone. I think they were about $11.

Changing mine today, it was filthy after years in service not to mention I had the leaking passenger side door problem last year, so lots of mold / mildew build up.

I also noticed a pretty significant reduction in air flow with the dirty filter.

After reading this thread I changed mine a couple of days ago. Bugs, leaves and just plain dirt.

Why let the song just rattle around in my head? Dark Side of the Moon has been ripped to my computer at work, I am going to go ahead and listen to it!

Nasty!

That's @ 61,500 Miles including MANY dirt roads in Vermont, sometimes stuck behind slowpokes kicking up a duststorm.

The replacement (white) Puralator filter was under $15 @ Advanced Auto Parts and took all of 5 minutes to install

You found a pack of smokes in there???

I was going to post another question thread but thanks to all you smart folks I figured out why I couldn't get the box to drop. Push OUT, not in. Can't wait to get home to try it!! If it's really icky, I'll post a photo. You guys are so helpful!!
